Network-Enable Existing Applications
The main function of the SBL2e is for Serial-To-Ethernet connectivity. Simply connect your serial device to one of the two provided TTL level serial ports, select any custom options through the web page interface, and your device will be able to send and receive data through a network connection.
Serial Tunnel

By using two NetBurner Serial to Ethernet devices you can create a "serial tunnel" that enables two serial devices to communicate over an IP network, even if both of your serial devices have no network capabilities. The IP connection between the two devices will be transparent to the serial devices. For more information, please see the NetBurner Serial Tunneling Appnote.
Add a level shifter for RS-232, RS422/485 support
If your application requires TTL level serial ports, just plug in the sbl2e and go! Support for RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 can be achieved by adding external level shifters.
Simple Digital I/O and A/D Input Data
In addition, the SBL2e provides a separate network connection that enables you to read and write the general purpose I/O signals, and read the analog-to-digital inputs. This is independent of the serial streams so you have direct and quick access to control your device.
Real 32-Bit Performance
The sbl2e is the leader for low cost, high performance embedded networking. While other products in this price range are 8-bit processors with small amounts of paged memory and limited performance, the Freescale ColdFire 52236 is a full 32-bit high performance processor.
10-pin header version or RJ-45 version
The SBL2e comes standard with a 10-pin header for the Ethernet and LED signals. There is also a location to add a Ethernet RJ-45 connector.
Software Specifications
The SBL2e is pre-programmed for serial to Ethernet using TCP or UDP. The board can be configured though its onboard web page. It also has support for GPIO and A/D over a TCP port. Note that if you require a programmable serial to Ethernet solution, please see the SB70LC.

SBL2e Evaluation Kit

The SBL2e Evaluation Kit is designed as a complete evaluation platform for NetBurner's SBL2e board with 2 UART serial interfaces, four 12-bit analog to digital inputs, up to 10 general purpose I/O and 10/100 Ethernet support. If you plan to use an SBL2e - we highly recommend getting the evaluation kit.
SBL2e Carrier Board
The hardware features on the SBL2e carrier board help you evaluate your peripheral connectivity (UART, A/D inputs, digital I/O, 10/100 Ethernet) and to configure the SBL2e. DB9 connectors use the onboard RS-232 level shifter enable devices to quickly connect via the serial ports. Extension headers make it easy to connect to a daughterboard or wrapping board for your specific application. The USB port can be used to monitor serial port 0 data and/or to power the board.
